Today on Obsessed with Design I'm chatting with Art Viger,

According to his personal website, Art is a designer of things and is especially proud of and impressed by design that blends seamlessly into our lives and enables us to move around the world in simple and elegant ways.

Today, Art is the lead design engineer for Peak Design, who makes some amazing travel, tech, and everyday carry bags for film and photo professionals...

Today we'll talk about Art's background, Peak's love of Kickstarter, and what he's most obsessed with right now.

Today's show is not sponsored by Peak, but I personally purchased a Peak design bag about two years ago to the day, specifically for my laptop and design gear, and I've transitioned over the past few months to regularly packing my DSL for photography and video... I get compliments on it all the time, and I absolutely love this bag.

On April 9th, Museum of Arts and Design will open Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die: Punk Graphics, 1976–1986. This will be the first exhibit under the new museum director. Adapted to showcase New York City's storied punk history, much of the exhibit originates from a massive collection Andrew Krevine from the Cranbrook Art Museum in Michigan, “Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die charts punk’s explosive impact on design and examines its complex relationship with art, history, and culture.”

More than 400 pieces of punk's most iconic graphic design, including flyers, zines, posters, and album covers will be on display. During a members only event on April 15th, Johnny Rotten will kick off a full series of public programs that will feature several of punk's architects and revolutionaries.

So today on Obsessed show, we're speaking with Andrew Blauvelt, director of the Cranbrook Museum, about his origins, punk design, and this exciting collection that is soon to be featured in the Museum of Art and Design...
